Brought together by the wrath of Spade, King and Diamond are no different, taking him on and ending up with irreparable scars. However, the pair is given a second chance at taking Spade down when a stranger with unknown ties to the kingpin enters the mix. Will the next hand dealt be in their favor?

The Heart of a King is written with a different style that many aren't accustomed to, but can certainly come to love if they give it a fair chance and read it as four stories merging into one journey to fight a common enemy, Spade. Each part focuses on the four main characters; Heart, Diamond, King, and Ace, and takes the reader on a journey with each of them, allowing them to witness their trials, tribulations, and even gain a peek at their deepest desires.The story starts with the very pampered Heart, a spoiled rich girl searching for love with no idea of how real the streets can be. While everyone adores Heart, King is the one that introduces her to the real world and the possibilities of love. After Heart's story, the reader is introduced to Diamond, mercenary for the infamous Spade. While many may not understand the purpose of this shift it is simple: to show the affectionate side of Spade that is rarely displayed from the point of view of the other characters. What we also learn is that there is no room for love in Spade's heart, a lesson that Diamond is forced to learn the hard way. The book takes another shift to King, who has been scorned by Heart and seeks to find favor with her again, but the question is: at what price? Finally, the stories of these characters merge into one with the introduction of Ace, one of the most mysterious characters by far with an unknown bone to pick Spade. Where each character has been defeated by Spade—whether mentally, physically, or emotionally—Ace has not had his chance at defeat and brings something new to the table that King, Diamond, and Heart need.

While many believe that The Heart of a King is Written all over the place, there isn't another way to pain such a vivd picture of such lifelike characters without taking away their essence.

I skipped through the majority of this book. To me it was all over the place. I was confused as hell when it went from Hearts story to Diamonds.... Being that the title of this book is "The Heart of a King" I for sure thought the story would've been mostly about them. I thought for sure I was reading a diff book until the mentioning of Spades name in every other sentence. Trying to figure out why in the hell it went from story to story w no other character having any dealings w each other; other than wanting to kill spade. I guess in the next book they're going to all come together and try to kill him.
It was ok if you don't have anything else to read.
Loved it..hate it ended with To be continued
This was a really good read at first I was confused by all the different characters until I saw how they were able to mesh together
A very interesting book that I would have given 5 stars had it not been so all over the place. the author's writing was good and the characters were developed. I am so hoping that part 2 will be so much better.
King and Ace had something strong going on. Diamond was beastly. Not only was her character flawless, but she was determined. I mistreat part two will have to be well written to best this one. It was entertaining. Focused on more than one group. Not leaving connections out.
First read by this author and I was not disappointed at all. I was hesitant at first, but decided to go ahead and read it. This read was pretty good and I look forward to reading more from this author. I am a very complex reader and if I am not captivated by the first 3 pages then I will put a book down, but this read here flowed even though it jumped from story to story. It all came together.
